Product Description An everyday man transforms himself from a shy, awkward writer into the quick-witted, smooth-talking Style, a character irresistible to women. But just when life is better than he could have ever dreamed, he falls head over heels for a woman who can beat him at his own game.
Barry Forshaw Is it for real? Is The Game by Neill Strauss an assiduously detailed, highly entertaining exposé of a fascinating secret society -- the international community of pickup artists who have refined their talents for getting women into bed to the nth degree? Or is it an extremely funny hoax? Early drafts of the book had people wondering, and men in particular speculated if the book would deliver some valuable `how to' tips as an aid to entering a sexual wonderland. In fact, it doesn't really matter whether you take the basic premise seriously or not: Strauss' wonderfully diverting book delivers great entertainment whatever your point of view. According to Strauss, the clandestine society of men he describes here take wagers in clubs and bars throughout the Western world over just who can chalk up the most Casanova-like quantities of pickups and seductions. But this isn't merely for the thrill of an army of sexual conquests -- all of this is coded and organised according to an almost military-style ritual, with an elaborate series of rules and regulations that the participants rigorously follow. Strauss went undercover in this glamorous world, and learned the secrets of these top-drawer seducers. But, for him, there was a useful corollary affect: Strauss found himself transformed from a nerdish, unconfident journalist into a silver-tongued Lothario, quite the equal of many of the ladykilling males he had been enjoying the company of. For him, the ultimate accolade was being noted The World's Number One Pickup Artist -- and then he made the mistake of setting his sights on a woman who could give every bit as good as she got. The world of excess presented here is not one most of us move in, but (if the truth were told) it has its irresistible attractions. Strauss wheels in such celebrities as Tom Cruise and Courtney Love, and this unblushing peek into a secret world where sex and seduction are treated with cool scientific detachment is mesmerisingly readable. --Barry Forshaw

An entertaining and informative book. July 26, 2010 Grathuln The Game is the first book I decided to buy about pick up artists. I found it well written, informative and entertaining. I recommend it as a first read before you decide to buy in to the whole Pick Up Artist scene because this book tells you about bad stuff along with the good. If you're looking for tips on how to be a pick up artist this book really isn't it. It isn't that there aren't any, there are, but this book is more Neil's story about how he gets in to the scene and how for a while at least it almost takes him over.
The Game can become an obsession and if you get in to it, especially if you start attending and paying for boot camps and seminars, it will change you. These changes can of course be good but there are also pitfalls and this book mentions these in perhaps more detail than most other books, seminars and boot camps on the subject.
The Girlfriend Experience says Neil Straus's the Game rocks!!! June 19, 2010 Ms. Rebecca Dakin (Nottingham Uk) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My brother bought this book for me for my 30th birthday. It was a curious choice... and I wondered why he'd picked it. In retrospect I think he wanted to read it after me lol.
I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy a book that was clearly aimed at men learning tactics to 'pull' women. There's even a science as to which angle one should approach a woman, with witty drawings in the book to show these angles and other various tips.
I couldn't put this book down. I found Neil Strauss's writing captivating. His easy reading and witty style made this book a thoroughly enjoyable read. It's one of the rare books that has made me laugh out loud in public (which I always try not to do even if I find something amusing, because you do get strange looks :)
It's sort of autobiographical - how Neil a geeky journalist with no luck with women, who through researching for his writing ended up thrust into the (at the time) underground world of Pick Up Artists, and how he worked himself up the ranks and quickly became the top pick up artist in America, who was respected and admired, and like a god to those in the PUA world.
Ok some of it must have been enhanced for amusement, but his tale is fascinating. With him ending up on his own journey of personal self discovery, as he in the end realises how empty and false the PUA world really is. It's all about an act, and it becomes a competition to those in this surreal world. It's all about numbers how many women they can pull, and various pulling techniques.
I've since been in bars and noticed the PUA techniques with men chatting me up, and it's most amusing. I've been negged (subtle put downs), left out from conversations and various other things, but having read this book I know exactly what's coming so ladies it's a good book to read!
By the end of the book, I couldn't help but feel sorry for these sad individuals who choose to make a life out of notching up women on their bedpost, but never actually settling down into any sort of fulfilling real relationship. It reminds me in some ways about my past escorting life as the girlfriend experience - where men are so completely absorbed in a fantasy life that they completely lose touch with reality.
Great Buy June 13, 2010 Mr. William D. Markiewicz 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this book as a present for a friend, It arrived quickly and in great condition. This is a fantastic book, about a mans venture from an average frustrated chump to a pick up artist. Neil Straus' Colloquial style never fails to intrigue audiences, making reading a joy and the novel unputdownable.
This book is a must June 6, 2010 Mr. S. C. Marks (England) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this book when I was bored, I was quite skeptical about and I didnt expect it to work. However I was proven wrong. It all actually works.
I wouldnt say Ive had trouble getting women, im not uber confident but Ive always been able to approach women, it was just knowing what to say, without just appearing as another Mr Nice Guy, well this book has moved me on.
Im reading it for a second time now, the first time I red it was on Operational Tour, and by the time Id gotten back I had forgotten it all. However after reading the first couple of chapters I was able to go out and approach every women I saw and not get blown out the window.
this is "The Introduction" to the whole 'pickup thing' June 5, 2010 Tomasz Kolodziejczak (Poland) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
It doesn't really matter how good you are at picking up women. Besides the pieces of knowledge you get it's also a cool story revealing the dark sides of sarging. Don't hesitate, just buy it. And saying that this book might be the most important one in your whole life isn't exaggeration. Reading this might really change your life attitude. Enjoy, peace.
