The girl with the Dragon Tattoo March 17, 2010 J. Briggs (Spain) This book has everything,if you want the best read you have had on your holiday, this year buy the three Stieg Larsson books sit back and be blown out of your mind .He only wrote Three books and then died, what a terrible waste of someone who could write with such an imagination.DON'T miss them
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo March 17, 2010 Mrs. E. A. Wilson (S Yorks England) Excellent story line which keeps suspense all the way through. A dark story which reflects something of the darker side of life in Sweden, a complicated plot demanding concentration. However, a most enjoyable read which keeps you on tenterhooks and longing for the next one in the Trilogy.
Quite Boring March 17, 2010 MRS JULIET WHITE 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I felt the book was quite boring to start with an took long to get to the plot. The middle part of the book was very exciting and kept me guessing through out. The book is ok, and i will be going to see the film to see how they managed to portry the story and characters
A great read March 16, 2010 Rjbeevers (Cheshire, UK) I've just finished this book today. I bought it a while ago and never got around to reading it. As soon as I did though I couldn't put it down and quickly read through it. I enjoyed the pace of the book once the initial first 30 pages or so were out of the way. I could really envisage what was being written and it wasn't written in a complicated style. I am going to start the next book tomorrow and I look forward to another great read.
I know the movie came out in the UK on last Friday but none of the cinema's around by me are showing it. If anyone knows where it's being shown in Cheshire please let me know. I'd love to see how they've done with the film. I hope the Yanks don't spoil it when they bring their own version out in 2012.
What a let-down! March 16, 2010 Al (Farnborough, UK) I bought this book on the basis of the overwhelming level of positive reviews on Amazon, but I am struggling to believe I am reading the same book.
It is painfully slow-moving. I like a book to give some background on the characters and to set the scene, but for long stretches of this book that is all you get with little or nothing about the plot. It is just padding and very dull to read. For all the detail about the characters none of them really come to life.
One of the main characters - Lisbeth Salander - is just so ridiculous, like something a child would create in a school essay. I couldn't take her character seriously.
There are also a number of embarrassingly clumsy product placements. Salander has her laptop run over by a car and has to buy a new one. We get the full spec of the old one and the new one (at some length, but everything is "at some length" in this book), followed by the reasons why it is worth paying more for this laptop than cheaper rivals. A plug for some database software used by journalists even has a reference to the website where you can buy a copy. Very tacky.
I can honestly say this is the worst book I have read in ages. I would recommend you avoid it.
