4 out of 5 stars Better than I thought   March 4, 2010

I'm just learning to Sew and I bought Cath Kidston's Sew! book, and got this one at the same time, with all the poor reviews I really wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly suprised! Admittedly there are a few of the same things in each book, but Sew! teaches you how to make the things from scratch, and Make shows you how to adapt and customise them in true Cath Kidston style. The name itself is a bit misleading, and so I took off a star for that, but other than that, I liked it, a good book for those starting out in crafts like me!

3 out of 5 stars a bit of a let down :(   February 15, 2010
Ms. L. Deadman (paradise)
This book was bought out to celebrate the Cath Kidston brand's 15th birthday, and it such a shame that they just churned it out without any thought or research into what a craft book should be like. My main bug bear is that it is not beginner friendly. Very little sewing is involved and things tend to be embellished that are already made, cushion covers, tees, cardis (etc)I luckily know how to make simple things such as cushion covers, tote bags, oven gloves but a new sewer will have no clue and be completely lost. It is a stunning book, pretty patterns, pretty projects but they are not fool proof. If you are choosing between this and her latter book 'SEW!' Please please buy Sew! I own both and the newer book seems to address the lack of sewing and beginner friendly projects that were heavy criticisms from fans.

5 out of 5 stars Make   February 9, 2010

Another good book by Cath Kidson I enjoyed this book and some lovely things to make inside. The free bag was a lovely addition you can add your own style to it. Lots of templates in the back too.

4 out of 5 stars Great descriptions!   January 9, 2010

This book is superior to the "sew " book as there seems to be much less jargon for those of us starting out in creative crafts after ,ahemm 20 - 30 years (!) since our school attempts. The projects are simple and inspirational - you can only do so much floral however. More pictures of each stage would make this 5 out of 5.

1 out of 5 stars Not very good   November 24, 2009
E. Rayment
Very disappointed as it is more geared to 'sticking' and 'gluing' than sewing patterns. Don't think it should be called 'make' as I would have to go out and purchase the product before I can embellish it. The outcome is likely to be that I won't be bothered!I originally bought this as a Christmas present for my Mum but I am too embarassed to give her such an awful present! Complete waste of money even though it was cheaper on Amazon.
