just what I was expecting, fast moving,continuation of the story of Sonea and the magicians Guild. I couldn't put it down and then started on book 3!

Having read the first book in this series, which I quite enjoyed but found a little bit young, this was an amazing step up. I couldn't put it down, twists and turns all the way which kept me captivated. The characters came into their own, I realised I had finished my 'holiday books' 2 weeks before I went away. If you like magic and fantasy well worth a go.

My youngest daughter got me into these books by buying me the Magician's Apprentice for my birthday last year. When I saw this trilogy for sale on Amazon, decided to buy.
If you have the imagination for magic and magicians, then this is for you. It has only taken me about 3 weeks to read all three books, I was unable to put them down.
Trudi Canavan is a fantastic writer, and I am looking forward to getting some more books by her.

I felt that this book was much better than the first in the series. The storyline is still very pacey and full of excitement (sometimes I find the middle of a trilogy a little slow), I kept wanting to know what would happen next to all of the characters.
I really felt for Sonea as she was bullied by her classmates, and was intrigued at Dannyl's findings. I also really liked the character development of both characters - Sonea becoming stronger and more able to stand up for herself, Dannyl learning more about himself (or rather, allowing himself to remember). I liked that the perspective switched between the characters, so that I never became too bored with each storyline, and they all developed quickly.
The typos and spelling errors that were prevalent in book 1 were much fewer this time - I still noticed some errors, but nowhere near as many as last time.
This book also ended on a cliff-hanger, so I can't wait to find out what happens to the characters in the final book, and of course whether the baddie is found out and stopped! (Or, as it may be, whether he is telling the truth!)

WOW. I love the first book, The Magicians Guild and as soon as I had finished reading it, I went ahead and bought this. So glad I did. This is even better than the first. I love anything to do with magic and anything paranormal so this book is like my others but also a lot different than them in the case that I couldn't tear my eyes away from the pages. I would be sat up till the late morning in bed reading it or stood next to the cooker stirring the contents of a pan and have a read. Great book, I recommend to everyone!!
