 poor compared to his other books September 4, 2010

Maybe my expectations were a little too high after reading his other books but I found this a very weak and waffly plot. It was a little slow and at times predictable but still worth a read.

Just returned from a week away and would recommend this as a good holiday read. I was gripped from the first and quite liked the twist at the end, which I had not anticipated. Better than his last book but not quite as good as his first - No Time for Goodbye. Look forward to reading his next one.

Loved this third book from Linwood Barclay. Really good read, maybe a little daft and far fetched but very very readable, gripping and 'unputdownable'. Every chapter leaves you desperate to turn over and find out what will happen next. Great escapist stuff. Tim Blake has a nightmare experience when his daughter Sydney goes missing without a trace. Cue random trips across America, mishaps, burglaries, police run ins, and all sorts of goings on as he tries, often singlehandedly, to find her.

i liked the book but i found it kind of took ages to get to some sort of action, a lot of it was the charater tim moping about his missing daughter sydney. and it felt like it was going nowhere until near the end. although i did enjoy it in the end, the story was a good idea.

I think that Linwood Barclay is the perfect holiday thriller writer who always keeps you guessing. I think the beginning of the book is great and Barclay at his best, and the ending manages to just about hit the mark, but the whole set-up felt forced and staid. I felt no real connection to the characters and it felt like there was one 'wrong turn' too many.
