How did this get published?????? July 5, 2010 Escape Artist 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have no idea if I got a completely different book to the other reviewers, but I thought this book was complete and utter rubbish. How it got published I have no idea, save your money, don't buy this book, try Nalini Singh, Larissa Ione, or Kresley Cole
HOOKED June 7, 2010 M. aitchison well this was the first of the series which i read and it was essentualy the one that got me hooked enought that i went one and read the rest of the series, compriesd of around 21 books. i was serching aarounf for something 2 read it it fell into my lap, i love the world Christine Feehan created and the characters each one new and exiting, you can't get bord of her storys. im even thing of reading them all again. if you havent read eny of the series before it dosent matter relli if you start with this book you can go back to the fist one.this books is the second in the series. Dark prince is first. hope you found this usful.
Excellent installment... November 29, 2009 A. Milnes (west yorkshire, United Kingdom) I am a huge fan of the Dark Carpathian series and must admit that sometimes I did find some of the series tend to be a little lacking in story as they follow a particular pattern of events.
Dark Desire however, though early in a long standing series is still one of my favourites. The plot is not the same as many of the novels that come later on and it really complements well the first book Dark Prince.
The torture of Jacques, the confusion of Shea and the relationship that develops between them is well written and explained as well as offering the reader Jacques as a tortured and vulnerable soul, which only makes him more appealing to a reader who wants a bit of fantasy/paranormal/romance.
The other books, that in my opinion really stand out in this series are, Dark Possession, Dark Magic, Dark Slayer, Dark Guardian & Dark symphony...most can be read as stand alones, but the series as a whole offers a better insight and understanding of the Carpathian species and characters as many cross over into other books.
Jacques - a favorite November 18, 2009 Lorraine Sears (UK) Having read every single Carpathian story by Christine Feehan so far (Dark Slayer being the latest) I am now enjoying the whole series in order for the second time, and one I've looked forward to most is Dark Desire.
When we first met Jacques in Dark Prince he came accross as one of the more light-hearted and young-at-heart characters, with no vampire hunting experience. Despite loosing eomotion and colour, he could still show humour in some things, which was what made him so endearing.
Howevr in Dark Desire, which is approximately 23 years later (calculated by the death of his sister which happened around the same time his lifemate was born, and references to Raven's time as a Carpathian) much has happened to him to change him from the man he was. He has studied and grown in power, which is exceptional given his lineage. But he has been betrayed, captured, brutally tortured and buried alive, and is living a nightmare. His only focus through his pain is on one woman, he doesn't know who she is but can connect to her and judges her by what he see's. Using thier telepathic ability to draw humans to them he calls for her and she comes from across oceans, drawn inexplicably to the Carpathian Mountains. She is Shea O'Halloran, a brilliant surgeon and with a strong will and much compassion, despite the awful upbringing she endured.
This story is so much more intense than Dark Prince, the threat to the couple coming from human and vampire alike. The love scenes are hot and steamy. Jacques character, even in his damaged state is just as desireable as Mikhail was in Dark Prince, and probably more endeering because we knew who he was before and we feel for what he has endured.
This book and Jacques are among my top five Carpathian males/stories, probably coming second only to Gregori (Dark Magic) and even with Lucian (Dark Guardian)
A Must Read!!! November 8, 2009 C. Pawsey This is one of the best novels in the series. Jacques passonate suffering soul will grab your heart. Very captivating.
