nlp conditioned July 21, 2010 rollie (somewhereinlouisiana) Without a doubt, this is the finest introduction to practical nlp/hypnosis I have
ever seen. In less than a week I have noticed a remarkable overhaul in my self-esteem and self-worth (in other words confidence). Trying to teach myself nlp and
self-hypnosis has been a stalled project for some time. But now I'm getting the
results I wanted with less effort that I ever thought possible. Not only do I feel
better but other people are extending opportunities to me that they previously
refused to let me in on (important career opportunities). That kind of gain is
something I didn't expect but am enjoying getting used to. 5 stars definitely!
This will change your life. July 17, 2010 maxi You get out of the book what you put in. Set aside some time everyday to read, revise and practise the exercises and listen to the recordings. Over time you will gradually notice changes - changes that will ultimately change your life for the better. Six months on I have never looked back.
I finally have the tools I need to unlock my full potential. Buy this book and invest in yourself. You'll never look back.
It really helps! July 10, 2010 Millie I have read this book and I'm really glad that I purchased it. Before purchase my confidence appeared normal for me - then I could speak or make jokes in front of many unfamiliar people without losing words.
My partner didn't feel much difference in me between before and after.
As the author is offering many exercises in his book I have tried them all. I was doing them for about a month. But I started feeling about myself differently after couple of weeks - this was really nice surprise for me. Interesting thing that first of all my confidence appeared in my dreams, where you can't control who you are... (When I was a kid I had bad years at school. Even now after 10 years I was still dreaming that kids where bullying me... But after few weeks of reading this book my dreams have changed! I'm taking over control!
Now when I have to make unexpected phone calls or do some unexpected work, I feel much more relaxed and controlling situations than before.
The next thing I like about this book is that author is teaching to love yourself. Now I would say that loving yourself is the most important thing if you wish to achieve something in your life.
Life changing July 9, 2010 James Taylor This is superlative material, not only building confidence as in the abstract noun, but also turning thoughts inward to enable you to focus on what you want out of life, giving you direction. Using many branches of popular psychology in a very task-specific manner: Self-talk, self-belief, goals, visualisation to name a few, you are taken on your own personal journey, exploring all life options available to you. The ideas are all understood on first reading as they are all so clearly presented. The CD alone is priceless. I'd be surprised if anyone looking here hasn't already got it, but if you haven't, I highly recommend it to you. Another plus, it's British!
works even for the sceptics July 2, 2010 Alison This is the first self help book I have ever bought as I am extremely sceptical of this type of thing. However, after reading the reviews I decided to give it a go, as I had been suffering from shyness (I would blush, get heart palpitations and really tongue-tied if I had to speak in class at university) for a long time and had realised that it was an obstacle to getting the most out of myself. As I was about to start my first job in a new place, which would require me to frequently meet lots of new people, communicate clearly and make presentations, I really wanted to be more confident.
I read the first section of the book, which targets confidence specifically, over 2 days. I found it easy to read and you can do the exercises at home on your own. It brought me to realise that being confident was all about changing your state of mind. The exercises help you change how you think about situations and yourself until being confident becomes your natural way of being. It was clear from the outset how the book would work, it sounds logical even to a sceptic so it is easy to accept and the exercises take you through that process. I have since re-read a few chapters of the book and have been listening to the CD a couple of times a week. The second part of the book is about motivation, which I have not read properly yet as I am pretty motivated already, but I'm sure it works in the same way.
After reading the book and listening to the CD a few times I already felt a lot calmer going into my new job. By the time I started work I had noticed that I was significantly more confident in situations where I would have otherwise been worrying and getting tongue-tied or feeling embarassed. I have found myself speaking more slowly and clearly, where before I would have been fudging my sentences, and being much more efficient in my day-to-day work. I feel much more professionally confident, even though I am new to the job. I no longer feel that I am forcing myself to display false confidence but that I actually am and I think I have only blushed once since starting, whereas before it was a frequent occurance! I haven't put a lot of work into the exercises, or the CD, but the little that I have seems to have paid off and I will definitely be continuing with it. I wholeheartedly reccommend this book, which, coming from a total sceptic, is saying a lot!
