Mexican food July 28, 2010 S Boon Purchased this book after reading the other reviews and being a big fan of mexican food but was very disapointed with the recipes, so much so i returned it for a refund
Imaginative but accessible - yummy! July 21, 2010 EmilyVNH Really creative recipes that get you thinking differently about Mexican food. Little tricks help make this book - I've made guacamole loads of times before but this was the best ever (maybe it was the chilli in the pestle and mortar that did it). Also the courgette and mint soup has been a great summer discovery. All I'd suggest is make sure you're well stocked up on chillis, garlic and coriander before you get started.
Mexican Bonanza July 13, 2010 Mr. N. J. Marriott This is one of the best cookery books I have ever read. The style is quirky and unusual, with boundless enthusiasm. The recipes literally leap out of the book at you,and in no time at all mexican cooking, instead of being somewhat daunting, becomes achievable and lots of fun. My guacamole is now pretty professional and I am only just starting!
Mucho fun June 28, 2010 Hoolia I bought this book for a friend's birthday as she is a fantastic cook and enjoys nothing more than devouring a new cookbook(not a completely altruistic gesture on my part as I was hoping to be the recipient of fine mexican fayre)The book is a delight to read and we spent a day planning what to cook, going to Borough Market for essentials (we found a good chilli stall, v helpful) and spent 6 hours cooking together. It was a truly fantastic day and the recipes were easy to follow and the flavours were absolutely divine. We made far too much food but the leftovers tasted just as good if not better the next day. Fun is making your own tortillas!!
Wonderful! June 21, 2010 Judith Mccafferty (Yorkshire UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have never been a fan of Thomasina Miers, she irritated me no end when she was on Masterchef. I did however read the reviews of this book, and I can only wholeheartidly agree with them. This is just the most wonderful recipe book! If you cook nothing else, then cook the chicken and avocado salad. It is wonderful!
